Katy Perry joins line-up for transcendental meditation concert

Katy Perry and Norah Jones have joined soul great Mavis Staples for filmmaker and musician David Lynch’s Silence the Violence benefit in October (19).
The three women will hit the stage at the Anthem in Washington, D.C. for the David Lynch Foundation fundraiser, which will benefit schools, homeless shelters and various treatment centres with transcendental meditation classes in the area.
Confirming she’ll be a part of the concert on Monday (19Aug19), Perry says, “I have been practicing it (transcendental meditation) for over nine years, and it has changed my life.
“It is one of the most important tools I use to keep me balanced and creative with a positive mindset. I am so proud to give an intimate performance at the Silence the Violence benefit concert… to raise funds to bring the power of meditation to 10,000 D.C.-area young people.”
The Silence the Violence event will take place on 11 October (19).
