Kelly Clarkson has admitted her children are her biggest critics and that they find her performances “boring”.
The Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) hitmaker made the comments during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at CinemaCon, where she revealed that her daughter River Rose, four, doesn’t hold back when it comes to critiquing her shows.
“She was like, ‘Mommy, you know when you’re on stage and you were singing?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, baby.’ I was thinking like a compliment was about to come,” the former American Idol winner recalled. “She was like, ‘Yeah, I was really bored’.”
While the star confessed that she was holding back on her vocals because she was mid-way through a week of performances, she went on to insist that neither of her children show a particular interest in her music, concerts or television projects.
“They do not care anymore,” the 36-year-old laughed. “They’re not impressed.”
Kelly is married to Reba McEntire’s former stepson, talent manager Brandon Blackstock, and the couple also shares two-year-old son Remington “Remy” Alexander.
The Because of You songstress joked that her children must think that she’s lazy because, when she’s not working, she prefers to spend her time relaxing at home.
“They’re going to think that their mom likes to do nothing but watch movies because it’s the only time when we get home,” she reflected. “Either we’re playing a game or watching a movie together because I’m so tired.
“(But) you can’t complain because you’re going to do all these amazing things,” she concluded.
