Kelly Clarkson’s talk show ‘highest rating daytime debut’ in past seven years

Kelly Clarkson’s talk show looks set for success, after its premiere saw it named the highest rating daytime debut in seven years on U.S. television.
The 37-year-old singer’s self-titled programme premiered on Monday (09Sep19), with guests including Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who stepped in for his pal Kevin Hart after he was injured in a car accident. It also featured Steve Carell performing his now infamous “Kelly Clarkson” scream from film The 40 Year Old Virgin.
According to Deadline, Kelly’s show “premiered to a 1.9 household rating across primary runs”, making it “the highest debut rating for a first run show in seven years”. Previously, that record was held by Katie Couric for her show Katie, which opened with a 2.8 household rating back in 2002.
Following the exciting news, Kelly took to Twitter to celebrate, writing: “A big thank you to everyone who watched the premiere of #TheKellyClarksonShow yesterday!! Y’all are amazing!! Thank you so much for the support!! Apparently we did really well with ratings so WOOOHOOOO!!!”
