Kenneth Branagh is to receive a top honor at BAFTA’s annual Britannia Awards in Los Angeles in October (17).
The actor/director will be feted for his career achievements when he is presented with the Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment at the 2017 British Academy Britannia Awards, which is run by the Los Angeles branch of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
“Kenneth is without question one of the most influential figures in the British film, television and theatre community, and his talents have brought him much-deserved international acclaim and recognition,” BAFTA Los Angeles chairman Kieran Breen said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate Kenneth’s work and honor him with this year’s Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment.”
The Dunkirk star, who is directing, producing and starring in the upcoming Murder On The Orient Express, will receive the prize on 27 October in Los Angeles.
Other recipients on the night, which is being hosting by British comedian Jack Whitehall, include Dick Van Dyke, who is set to pick up the Britannia Award for Excellence in Television, The Crown actress Claire Foy, who will receive the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year, and Selma director Ava DuVernay, who will be honored with the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing.
