Kerry Washington’s husband retires from American football

Kerry Washington’s new husband Nnamdi Asomugha has officially retired from American football after 11 years in the National Football League (NFL). The 32 year old was cut from the San Francisco 49ers in November (13) after a hyper extended knee injury forced him to be benched after only three games.
He signed with the team in April (13) after previously playing for the Oakland Raiders and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Asomugha, who was once one of the top players in the NFL, confirmed he was bowing out of the game on Friday (27Dec13), when he retired as a member of the Raiders.
The news emerges two months after reports surfaced suggesting Asomugha is expecting his first child with actress Washington.
The couple married in a secret ceremony in June (13).
