Kevin Costner and Diane Lane reteaming for new drama

Kevin Costner is reuniting with his Man Of Steel co-star Diane Lane on a new thriller.

The two Hollywood stars played Superman’s mom and dad Jonathan and Martha Kent in the 2013 movie, with them both reprising their roles three years later in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

They’ve now been tapped by The Family Stone filmmaker Thomas Bezucha for Let Him Go, with Bezucha serving as both writer and director on the project.

According to Deadline, Costner and Lane star as retired sheriff George Blackledge and his wife Margaret who, following the loss of their son, leave their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas, headed by matriarch Blanche Weboy. When they discover the Weboys have no intention of letting the child go, George and Margaret are left with no choice but to fight for their family.

Filming is due to begin in the spring (19), with Bezucha also co-producing, alongside Paula Mazur and Mitchell Kaplan of The Mazur Kaplan Company.

Let Him Go is based on Larry Watson’s 2013 novel of the same name, and is being made at Focus Features.

Costner, 64, will soon be hitting the promo trail for new Bonnie & Clyde movie The Highwaymen, with co-stars Woody Harrelson and Kathy Bates. The Netflix production follows Costner and Harrelson, who play two cops who come out of retirement to track down Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in 1930s America. And he’ll be seen opposite Amanda Seyfried and Milo Ventimiglia in The Art of Racing in the Rain later this year.

Lane has most recently been seen in Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway’s sci-fi drama Serenity. She’s also working on an untitled Reed Morano film and new TV series Y.
