Kit Harington and Rose Leslie have confirmed their engagement with an announcement in The Times newspaper.
It was reported yesterday that the couple of five years had begun to tell their nearest and dearest about their impending wedding. And on Wednesday (27Sep17) the news was confirmed with a traditional engagement notice in the paper.
With the heading “MR K.C. HARINGTON AND MISS R.E. LESLIE”, the notice read: “The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire.”
Kit and Rose first met while shooting HBO series Game of Thrones back in 2012, and have done their utmost to keep their relationship as private as possible since then.
They recently hit headlines after moving into a $2.3 million 15th-century pad in England’s East Anglia county in January, and it was owning a house that was apparently the clincher for Kit to pop the question.
“They’re yet to set a date, but told friends and family last week that they’ve got engaged,” a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “Kit’s known for ages he wanted to marry Rose but he wanted them to get a house and settle down a bit first.”
Kit, who plays Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, previously opened up about how easy it was to fall in love with Rose, whose character Ygritte was killed off in Game of Thrones in season four.
Asked about his favourite memory of shooting the series during an interview with L’Uomo Vogue last year, Kit replied: “The three weeks in Iceland where we shot the second season… because the country is beautiful, the light of the North magic, and why it was there that I fell in love.
“If you are attracted to a person and in fiction is your love interest, it becomes easy to fall in love…”
