Lady Gaga secretly suffered broken hip

Lady Gaga was secretly suffering from a broken hip when she was forced to cancel the remainder of her world tour and undergo surgery earlier this year (13). The Paparazzi hitmaker initially scrapped a handful of gigs on her Born This Way Ball tour in February (13) after she was diagnosed with the condition synovitis, an inflammation of the joints, but a labral tear prompted her to axe the rest of the trek just days later.
Now the singer has opened up about the extent of her health troubles, revealing she faced a complete hip replacement if she didn’t heed her doctors’ advice to cut short her tour immediately and undergo surgery.
In her first interview since the operation, Gaga tells Women’s Wear Daily, “Nobody knew, and I haven’t even told the fans yet. But when we got all the MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging scans) finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip. I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage.
“The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer.”
Gaga is now planning to make her live comeback by hitting the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in her native New York next month (Aug13) and she is excited to unveil Applause, the first single from her much-anticipated album ARTPOP.
She says, “I’ll tell you that it is very fun. And that it’s full of happiness, because what I’m saying in the song essentially is that I live for the applause. I live for the way you cheer and scream for me. Give me that thing that I love. Put your hands up, make them touch.”
