Lana Del Rey honours Guillermo del Toro at Walk of Fame star ceremony

Singer Lana Del Rey honoured Oscar winner Guillermo Del Toro as the filmmaker unveiled his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday (06Aug19).
Admitting she’s a big fan of his films, Lana credited the Roma director for celebrating people’s differences in his movies.
“In a culture of sameness, he’s completely himself,” she told del Toro’s fans, who gathered for the honour ceremony. “And that’s the greatest lesson I get from his tales.
“I would like to say that it’s a beautiful thing to be reminded that being different is a thing to be celebrated, and it’s a beautiful thing that we have you to always remind us of that each time we go back to your instantly classic films. I’m very happy to be celebrating with you on the iconic Hollywood Boulevard.”
Del Rey recently recorded a new version of Donovan’s song Season of the Witch for del Toro’s upcoming movie Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.
The filmmaker thanked his special guest, adding, “I have admired Lana’s music for a while now and felt in my gut that she would run with Season of the Witch – that she would use her alchemy to transform it. She is a great artist and has been an amazing partner with us in this adventure. It is an honour for me to have met her.”
