Laura Dern is ‘Constantly Group Texting’ with her ‘Big Little Lies’ Co-Stars

Actress Laura Dern is fast learning how to better express herself via text message thanks to her Big Little Lies co-star Reese Witherspoon.

Laura and Reese, who previously worked as mother and daughter in 2014 movie Wild, instantly hit it off with their fellow female castmates Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley as they filmed the award-winning drama series, and they have stayed in touch with one another ever since via group text messages.

They all jumped on their cell phones last week (ends08Dec17) when show creator David E. Kelley, who adapted Australian novelist Liane Moriarty’s book for the original series, confirmed Big Little Lies will return for a second season, and the ladies cannot wait to team up once again.

“We’re all in the hands of genius brain of David Kelley, so we’ll see what he orchestrates for us,” Laura said on Good Morning America. “I mean, we’re excited; we’re in love with the characters and we’re deep best friends now, this group of girls, constantly group texting!”

“It’s the beautiful thing of women getting to work together after years of being the only girl on a film,” she continued. “Suddenly we get to share parenting struggles of the day (off set), not just at work!”
And there is one person who is particularly active on the text chain.

Reese, she is voracious, oh yes!” Laura laughed. “She’s teaching us other girls how to be better communicators. I love it!”

The women have no doubt also used the group chat to celebrate their six Golden Globe nods and four Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, which were both announced earlier this week (begs11Dec17).

Production on season two of Big Little Lies is expected to begin in the spring (18).
