Lauren Ambrose to take the lead in My Fair Lady Broadway show

Six Feet Under star Lauren Ambrose has been cast as Eliza Doolittle in a new stage version of beloved musical My Fair Lady.
Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher will direct the production, which will be staged at the Lincoln Center Theater in the spring (18).
My Fair Lady, the musical adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, premiered on Broadway in 1956, with Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison as Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins.
Harry Hadden-Paton will portray Higgins in the new musical, which will also feature Norbert Leo Butz and Diana Rigg.
The musical last hit the New York stage in 1993, when Melissa Errico and Richard Chamberlain took on the leads. The play, which centres around a common flower girl’s relationship with an arrogant phonetics professor, was also adapted into a movie, starring Audrey Hepburn and Harrison, in 1964.
The new show will begin previews in March (18) and will premiere in April (18).
