Lea Michele is glad she can focus her vocal talents on creating music now that singing series Glee has ended.
The singer/actress released her debut album Louder in 2014 when she was still acting and performing a number of songs each week in TV show Glee, and when the musical series came to end in 2015, she quickly landed a role in horror comedy Scream Queens.
Lea is now working on her second studio album, which is due for release later this year (16). The star is relishing the fact she doesn’t have to sing in her TV job anymore, meaning Lea can save her voice for her own music.
“I’m working on my second record as well. Should hopefully come out at the end of this year,” she tells U.S. show Extra. “I’m really excited about it. It’s such a great record. I love singing, I come from a Broadway background and obviously I sang a lot on Glee so that’s always something I’m going to be doing… it’s fun now to also be a TV show where I’m not singing so that when I do my albums I can really just focus on the music.”
Lea is returning to Scream Queens later this year. She tells presenter Mario Lopez, “I am 100 per cent coming back to Scream Queens. I’m so excited… It was so fun going from Glee to Scream Queens and getting to play this crazy character… We’re going to start filming in the summer. I miss those girls so much. I can’t wait to go back.”
She has also filmed an episode of U.S. celebrity ancestry show Who Do You Think You Are? The new series airs from April (16) and features Lea meeting a long-lost relative.
