Lena Dunham apologises for molestation tweet

Lena Dunham has apologised for tweeting a joke about molestation. The Girls star, who regularly strips off in scenes for her hit TV series, appeared on U.S. sketch show Saturday Night Live over the weekend (08Mar14), and mocked her penchant for nudity by shedding her clothes in a skit about biblical figures Adam and Eve.
The sketch irked some viewers, with one taking to Twitter to tell the actress, “You don’t always have to get naked”, to which Dunham quipped: “Please tell that to my uncle, mister. He’s been making me!”
The star later deleted the post and apologised for the remark, writing, “I just made and deleted a not so great molestation joke. Sorry guys. I am really sleepy. SNL (Saturday Night Live) has a way bigger audience than our usual cozy Girls audience, so I was seeing a rash of very different kinds of Twitter rage.
“But I should know better, and do. Even naked girls get embarrassed. Sleep well and thanks for an amazing weekend.”
