Lewis Capaldi overwhelmed watching Stormzy’s Someone You Loved cover

Lewis Capaldi was left overwhelmed after watching Stormzy cover his track Someone You Loved at TRNSMT festival in Glasgow, Scotland, on Friday night (12Jul19).
The British rapper was joined by his choir and band to perform an emotional version of the much-loved track, telling the crowd at the festival: “I’m not the greatest singer. I’m actually quite a s**t singer, but I love to sing and I love to get in my car and listen to this song.”
Lewis was among the fans who tuned in to watch the performance, and told the Daily Record newspaper that he was more than a little stunned to witness it.
“I loved it, I’m a massive fan of Stormzy and I have been for ages,” Lewis gushed. “He said it was something he was planning for a while, and he looked like he was having a belter of a time doing it. I was watching on my phone in a hotel room in London and it was just such a weird experience.
“I was in the crowd watching him at Glastonbury and he was amazing… Him covering me here, I’m not at that level and he’s doing that. It’s emotional.”
Lewis himself performed at TRNSMT on Sunday night, and referenced his feud with Noel Gallagher performing in a Chewbacca mask after the Oasis rocker compared him to the Star Wars character. The Scottish star then launched into a rendition of Oasis tune Don’t Look Back in Anger, renaming it Don’t Chewbac in Anger – dedicating the tune to his “dear, dear father Noel Gallagher”.
