Liam Neeson to receive video tribute from former school

The Taken star will return to Ballymena, Country Antrim this month (Jan13) to be awarded the Freedom of the Borough, the town’s highest civic honour, and students at his former school, and a local college, have been asked to take part in the celebrations.

The youngsters have put together a special documentary film about Neeson’s early days in Ballymena, charting his time at school and his subsequent rise to fame. They have even interviewed locals who knew him as a child, from his former drama group peers to former sparring partners at the local boxing club.

The film will be screened for Neeson at a red carpet event in the town on Monday (28Jan13).

Mayor of Ballymena, Alderman PJ McAvoy, says, “As a St Patrick’s College ‘old boy’ and a longstanding supporter of the arts in our borough, I think Liam will really enjoy the fact we are showcasing young, local talent and creativity. As a movie star, he’ll certainly appreciate the hard work and commitment which have gone into this excellent production.”
