Lil Chris committed suicide

Gene Simmons’ pop star protege Lil Chris took his own life after struggling with pressures of the spotlight, a coroner has ruled.
The Checkin’ It Out singer, who rose to fame after appearing on Simmons’ Rock School reality TV show in 2006, was found dead by a friend at their shared home in Lowestoft, England on 23 March (15) at the age of 24.
The British star, real name Christopher Hardman, had been suffering from depression and other mental health issues before the tragedy.
An inquest heard in April, 2015 that his death was caused by hanging, and a full investigation concerning the circumstances surrounding his passing concluded in Bury St Edmunds, England on Monday (08Feb16).
During the hearing, it was revealed that Hardman had contacted his doctor and mental health workers on the morning of his death to talk about concerns over his medication.
Coroner Peter Dean recorded a verdict of suicide and ruled his death was “an intentional act”.
He described how the pressures of fame had taken its toll on the young star after his career stalled, adding, “Clearly he was a very talented young man who found fame at an early age… Sadly that fame also brought with it difficulties and problems but he had shown a desire to relaunch that career once more.”
After the inquest, Hardman’s sister Hannah insisted she hopes the tragedy will help change the stigma surrounding mental health.
“Nobody who knew him would have a bad word to say…” she told reporters. “He was the funniest, most lovely practical joker you could ever meet… But at the same time it was very difficult for him and he spoke very openly about his depression…
“The one thing we would like to take away from this tragedy is to get people speaking more openly about mental illness. Unfortunately it is something that society cannot yet cure but by talking about it we can hopefully help people in a similar situation. I know that is what he wanted.”
