Lil Peep’s brother believes death was an ‘accident’

Lil Peep’s brother believes the rapper’s death on Wednesday (15Nov17) was caused by him taking drugs containing rogue substances.
Peep, real name Gustav Ahr, was found dead at the age of just 21 on his tour bus in Tucson, Arizona on Wednesday (15Nov17).
Although an initial autopsy proved inconclusive, police officers suspect it may be drug related and the rapper often referenced substance abuse in his lyrics.
Speaking to People, his brother Oskar said his sibling was happy with his life, and that he had been led to believe his brother had accidentally taken tainted drugs.
“We (Peep’s family) have heard there was some sort of substance he did not expect to be involved in the substance he was taking,” Oskar said.
“He thought he could take what he did, but he had been given something and he didn’t realise what it was. It was an accident, it really was an accident. He was super happy with where he was in life.”
Oskar expressed his frustration with his brother’s drug-fuelled public image, saying it did not reflect his brother’s real personality.
However, he said he hoped Peep’s death would draw attention to the dangers of taking drugs, and in particular Xanax – a tranquiliser his brother often used.
“I hope there is some focus on drugs like Xanax and pills, in general, and the potential for them being laced, but I hope it isn’t too much associated with how people remember him,” Oskar said.
Tributes for Peep poured in after the news of his death broke, with DJ Mark Ronson, rapper Post Malone, and the rapper’s ex, Bella Thorne, all expressing their grief online, while his rap contemporary Lil Uzi Vert vowed to stay sober.
