Lily Allen mocks pop peers in comeback video

Lily Allen’s video for her comeback single Hard Out Here has caused a stir as the singer seemingly takes a swipe at her pop peers Miley Cyrus and Rihanna by mocking their explicit antics. The Smile hitmaker is gearing up to release her first track since stepping out of the spotlight in 2009 to focus on raising her two children.
She returned to the studio earlier this year (13) and released her new promo online on Tuesday night (12Nov13), and she seems to have used the video to tell fans exactly what she thinks of the current state of of music.
The clip begins with Allen on an operating table for a liposuction procedure, and she then rips off her surgical gown to reveal a sexy, skin-tight bodysuit. The singer grinds provocatively with a number of scantily-clad dancers, before ‘twerking’ – a nod to the dance made famous by Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards in August (13).
She is also seen posing against a luxury car, polishing expensive tyre rims, flashing dollar notes and seductively sucking on a banana in what appears to be reminiscent of Rihanna’s raunchier promos.
The song includes the lyrics, “Don’t you want to have somebody who objectifies you? Have you thought about your butt, who’s gonna tear it in two? We’ve never had it so good, uh huh we’re out of the woods. And if you can’t detect the sarcasm you’re misunderstood.”
The video caused a huge buzz online after its release, with fans congratulating the singer for calling out provocative pop stars who use sex to sell music.
Allen took to Twitter.com to thank fans for the support, writing, “I am honestly on the verge of tears. So overwhelmed by your feedback. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
