Lily Tomlin rang in 2014 as a newlywed

Veteran actress Lily Tomlin began 2014 as a married woman after tying the knot with her girlfriend of 43 years. The 9 to 5 star, 74, exchanged vows with writer Jane Wagner on New Year’s Eve (31Dec13).
The newlyweds’ pal, Chicago Tribune columnist Liz Smith, broke the news online, writing, “My longtime friends, Lily Tomlin and her love, the writer Jane Wagner, got married on the eve of 2014… My wish is that their happiness will be as great as their combined talents.”
The marriage should come as no surprise for fans – Tomlin admitted last August (13) that she was considering a union with Wagner, 78, after a change in U.S. law paved the way for same-sex couples to wed.
However, she insisted any ceremony would be low-key, joking, “No rings, no bridal dresses. Maybe we’ll be dressed like chickens.”
The couple began dating in 1971.
