Little Mix Fans Cry Foul as They’re Denied Best Group BRIT Award

Little Mix fans cried foul, claiming Brit Awards bosses were sexist after their idols missed out on the Best British Group Award at the prizegiving on Wednesday night (22Feb17).

The prestigious award has never been won by a female group, and many felt the Shout Out To My Ex stars had a strong chance of triumphing. Instead the prize went to male rockers The 1975 – the 36th year in a row the gong has gone to a predominantly male band.

Fans pointed this out on Twitter and started the hashtag #BRITsSoSexist.

Despite losing out in the category it was an otherwise triumphant night for Little Mix stars Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall who won their first ever BRIT Awards trophy as Shout Out To My Ex took home the prize for Best Single by a British Artist.

They also opened the ceremony at London’s O2 Arena, with an epic futuristic performance of the track.
