William Golding’s classic novel Lord Of The Flies is set for a gender-bending twist on the big screen.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Luca Guadagnino is in talks to direct the film, which will feature an all-female cast.

Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet have adapted Golding’s story about a group of stranded boarding schoolboys on a deserted island for the new take, and Call Me By Your Name director Guadagnino is very interested in overseeing the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In Golding’s book, the young islanders turn into savages without adult supervision.

Peter Brook directed an acclaimed 1963 version of the story, starring James Aubrey, Tom Chapin, and Hugh Edwards. Balthazar Getty starred in Harry Hook’s 1990 adaptation.
