Lorde keen to get a dog on her way to motherhood

Lorde is determined to get a dog in 2018 as that’s the first item on her list as she plans to start a family.
The singer tells Billboard she’s “definitely going to end up having children” but for now she just wants to take care of a pet – and perfect her baking skills.
“I just want to get a dog,” she says. “And I bake a lot. Yesterday, I made this lime cheesecake with Swiss meringue on top. I spent a couple of hours trying to get that right.”
Insisting her life is “really quiet”, the New Zealand-based star admits she spends long periods of time “mastering some weird skill”, adding, “I feel very excited at the prospect of a quiet life full of listening.”
The interview took place at the end of last year (17), before reports started circulating about a rumoured romance with newly-single Bleachers star Jack Antonoff, who produced Lorde’s hit album Melodrama – but she’s clearly very fond of the hitmaker, who recently split from Lena Dunham.
“When I came to New York, we had only written together maybe a couple of times, and we were very obsessed with each other on a creative level and as buds,” she tells the magazine. “I was sort of doing nothing in New York, and we did this thing where for five days in a row we just kept having dinner every night, just getting to know each other.
“One night, somehow it came up that I hadn’t had Cap’n Crunch or Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Lucky Charms (cereals). He was like, ‘We have to do this’. So we went to a bodega, got all of these cereals and went back to his house in Brooklyn and did a little line-up of bowls.
“We tried, like, 20 different kinds of cereal. I still think about Cinnamon Toast Crunch all the time… And there was another one that was like Reese’s Pieces balls. Delicious.”
