Lorde Just Did The Wildest Thing For Her Music

Lorde retreated into the wilderness for three days to write new material.

The Royals singer has been working on the follow-up to her 2013 debut album Pure Heroine, and reveals she has swapped the recording studio for the woods in order to tackle some songwriting obstacles.

“Took a helicopter out into the wilderness spent 3 days alone writing and made some of the most exciting breakthroughs on this record so far,” she tweeted.

It is unclear whether the 19-year-old singer took the trip in her native New Zealand or in the U.S., where she has also been working on the album with musician and Lena Dunham‘s boyfriend Jack Antonoff, who has previously written with her good pal Taylor Swift.

In June (16) she posted a selfie with Jack and wrote, “brats at the concession stand / we really crushed it at work this week,” and this week (beg11Jul16) she even tweeted about getting clothes delivered to his home.

“‘i ordered a dress to your house don’t panic’ me to jack, endless display of professionalism that i am (sic),” she joked.

Although she hasn’t released an album in three years, Lorde has certainly kept busy. She curated the 2014 movie soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which was lead by her single Yellow Flicker Beat, collaborated with dance act Disclosure, and co-wrote a song for up-and-coming New Zealand band Broods.

She also appeared at the 2016 BRIT Awards in February (16) to perform Life On Mars? as a tribute to the late David Bowie and hit the red carpet for the Met Gala in May (16).
