Lou Reed archive opens at New York Public Library

An archive dedicated to the life and works of late rocker Lou Reed has been launched at the New York Public Library.
Officials have organised the collection of personal notes, photographs, drawings, and more than 600 hours of audio recordings for fans and aspiring musicians to leaf through, as per the wishes of The Velvet Underground icon’s widow, artist Laurie Anderson.
According to The New York Times, Anderson decided to donate the musician’s belongings to library chiefs and make it accessible to the public because Reed never discussed what he wanted to happen to his belongings prior to his 2013 death.
The Big Apple native passed away from liver disease, aged 71.
