Announcing the fundraising short, Love Actually filmmaker Richard Curtis reveals he wanted to see how well the characters and the actors playing the film’s characters had aged.

“I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do 10 minutes to see what everyone is now up to,” he said. “Who has aged best? I guess that’s the big question… or is it so obviously Liam?”

Thanking the star-studded cast for joining the reunion he added, “We’ve been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part – and it’ll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and recreating their characters 14 years later.”

The follow-up, titled Red Nose Day Actually, will air on British TV on 24 March (17) as part of the BBC’s Red Nose Day telethon, staged yearly to raise funds for Comic Relief.
Richard added, “We hope to make something that’ll be fun – very much in the spirit of the original film and of Red Nose Day – and which we hope will help bring lots of viewers and cash to the Red Nose Day shows.”

One other star who has backed the fundraising push is Ed Sheeran, who took a trip to Liberia to meet children orphaned by the 2014 Ebola virus epidemic, who are being helped by one of Comic Relief’s partner charities, the Street Child of Liberia project.

The Castle on the Hill musician staged an impromptu gig with the youngsters, and said of his trip, “I’ll never forget the kids I met… When we sang together they were in such high spirits despite everything they’d been through.”
