Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist determined to be back on stage after heart surgery next week

Lynyrd Skynyrd have confirmed they’ll be back onstage with guitarist Gary Rossington in California next week (23Aug19) following his recent heart surgery.
The rockers postponed a series of weekend (16&17Aug19) dates to allow Rossington time to recover from a procedure on 31 July to fix a leaking heart valve, but they insist they’ll pick up The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour in Irvine.
“Gary is healing and feeling better,” the band writes on Facebook. “Touring from city to city, night in and out, is difficult on his health, as it is with other members of the band. Recently, Gary has had a few setbacks and his health has not been 100 percent. But as Gary always says, ‘it’s what I know’, and that he loves to play guitar for the three generations of Skynyrd fans that also love the band’s music that he helped create.”
Meanwhile, the band is considering adding dates to the farewell tour in South America, Europe, and Australia in 2020.
