M. Night Shyamalan didn’t recognise grown-up Abigail Breslin

Former child star Abigail Breslin left her Signs director M. Night Shyamalan stunned by how much she had changed during a run-in last year (12) after he failed to recognise the teen actress. Breslin was cast in the sci-fi thriller when she was just five, and although the now-17 year old claims to have “no recollection” of shooting the 2002 release, she does remember meeting Shyamalan – and she decided to stop by and say hello when she spotted him at a popular Los Angeles venue.
She tells the New York Post, “I actually saw M. Night Shyamalan at the Soho House in L.A. when I was filming last year. I went up to him and I said, ‘Hey, it’s Abby!’ And he was like, ‘Abby?’ I was like, ‘Abby, Abigail Breslin.’ And he was just completely shocked, like, ‘What the hell?'”
The Little Miss Sunshine star admits she wasn’t completely surprised by Shyamalan’s reaction – because reporters have been commenting on how much she has matured ever since she became a teenager.
She says, “For the past four years, since I was 13, every single article that has come out, it’s, ‘Abigail Breslin is all grown up!’. I always joke with my friends (about it). Every time they see me, they always say, ‘Oh my God, you’re all grown up!'”
