Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd taking legal action after attempted intrusion

Dancing With The Stars professionals Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are getting a restraining order against the man who allegedly tried to break into their home.
Chmerkovskiy’s partner on the show, Glee star Heather Morris, initially broke the news during an appearance on Good Morning America on Tuesday (25Apr17), following their shock elimination on Monday (24Apr17).
“They had some sort of run-in with some man near their house trying to break in, but the police were there,” the 30-year-old said, explaining why her professional dance partner could not attend the interview.
Police responded to a “civil dispute” in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the Los Angeles home of the dancing pros, after a man tried to break into the property, according to People.com.
Murgatroyd told the website they are now looking at getting a restraining order against the man who reportedly accused them of living in his property without permission.
“We got a knock at the door around 2:30 in the morning saying that we needed to show ID because this man downstairs is saying we’re trespassing,” she explained.
“We had to show ID and a rental agreement. We were half asleep and the police came in full force and we had to deal with the fact that they thought that we were trespassing in someone else’s home when we’ve been renting it for months. We did that and we actually found the man was up in our residence trying to get in.”
The new mother, who welcomed son Shai Aleksander in January (17), said that the man was shouting at her and Chmerkovskiy, accusing them of changing the locks.
“It was really scary. We’re just so fortunate he didn’t break in. He was taken away but not arrested. We’re actually getting a restraining order against him,” she added.
