Maluma handing over festival fee to forest fire relief charity

Colombian pop superstar Maluma is donating his paycheque from the upcoming Vina del Mar Festival to victims of a Chilean wildfire.
The singer, who recently teamed up with Shakira on Chantaje, will make his debut at Chile’s annual event on Friday (24Feb17), and he has announced he’s handing his fee over to a charity helping those hit hard by the blaze.
Maluma made the generous announcement via Instagram on Monday (20Feb17), writing: “Alex Hernandez, director of the Vina del Mar festival, showed me hundreds of stories of those affected by fires – moving faces of families that lost EVERYTHING.”
The forest fires devastated the country last month (Jan17).
“Today, I put myself in their place and decide to give my grain of sand to help out in this situation. That’s why 100 per cent of my earnings in this Festival will take another route. Their destiny is now in the hands of the Desafio Levantemos Chile foundation. It’s the least I can do for my Chilean brothers.”
