Man accused of impersonating David Gilmour arrested

A man accused of impersonating Pink Floyd star David Gilmour has been arrested in Minnesota. Phillip Michael Schaeffer allegedly claimed to be the rocker when he checked into St. Cloud Hospital on 24 April (13) and racked up a medical bill close to $100,000 (GBP62,500).
Staffers became suspicious of the 53 year old’s identity after learning and hospital spokesperson Jeanine Nistler tells local publication The St. Cloud Times, “Our security supervisor pulled up the security camera shots of when this man entered the hospital and compared them to pictures on the Internet of Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and determined he was not David Gilmour.”
Schaeffer was subsequently taken into custody and booked at the Stearns County jail for investigation of felony theft by swindle. Charges have yet to be filed.
