Manganiello plays down stalker comments

The actor shot to fame playing werewolf Alcide Herveaux opposite Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer in the hit U.S. vampire series.

Manganiello became so conscious of the increased interest in him that he stepped up security measures and was quoted as saying, “I’ve had to have my car checked for a tracking device – for a stalker. It’s been a little interesting. You have to take the good with the bad.”

But now the star has played down the reports, revealing he isn’t being harassed by any overzealous fans.

He tells Access Hollywood, “I want to make it clear – all I said was I had my car checked for (a) tracking device. I didn’t say that I had one and I didn’t say that there was a stalker… I was at my car dealership and (they) said, ‘Hey, we can have it checked for tracking devices.’ I said, ‘Yeah, sure, go ahead.’ So that got blown up.

“It’s funny how sometimes you say, ‘I had my car checked for tracking devices,’ and all of a sudden I have a stalker and the police are involved… That’s not what I said.”
