Fans Are NOT Happy With Margot Robbie’s ‘Suicide Squad’ Look (And She Doesn’t Give A Hoot)

Margot Robbie has defended the revealing outfits she wears in upcoming film Suicide Squad.

The Australian actress plays super villain Harley Quinn in the DC Comics’ superhero movie, which features an ensemble cast including Will Smith, Jared Leto and Viola Davis.

In the promotional materials released to date, Harley Quinn has been at the forefront, and is often depicted showing off her body in tight sequinned shorts, fishnet tights and wet T-shirts.

But Margot feels the character’s wardrobe is justified because she is “wearing hot pants because they’re sparkly and fun,” she told the New York Times, and not because “she wanted guys to look at her ass.”

She added that she wouldn’t wear such revealing outfits in her day-to-day life and understood that the costumes were part of the character’s “iconography”.

“As Margot, no, I don’t like wearing that. I’m eating burgers at lunchtime, and then you go do a scene where you’re hosed down and soaking wet in a white T-shirt, it’s so clingy and you’re self-conscious about it,” she shared.

Rumours have recently been swelling around a possible sequel to the yet to be-released film. Commenting on whether she would wear the same costume, Margot said half-joking: “I’m not wearing hot pants next time.”

In recent years, the 25-year-old has built up a reputation for playing bold characters in the likes of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, The Big Short as well as her star turn as Naomi Lapaglia in Wolf of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

While the blonde star admits she often plays characters that are confident in their appearance, she’s not necessarily feeling the same way. “You need to act like you think you’re really gorgeous,” she said, “and you need to be completely convinced with that, because everyone else will believe it, too.”
