Mariah Carey is resting comfortably in a Boston hospital after being admitted late Monday for dehydration and food poisoning. The reputed culprit? Raw oysters. The 29-year-old singer was in fair condition today at Massachusetts General Hospital, rep Cindi Berger says. Carey was receiving IV fluids and expected to remain in the hospital for a “couple” more days.
According to Berger, Carey was done in by a meal of raw oysters she ate in Atlanta on Saturday. The singer, who performed in the city that night, started feeling ill during the show. Later, she flew to Boston for another concert (tonight’s now-postponed event). At first, Carey thought she had the flu, Berger says. But when the symptoms persisted, Carey went to the hospital.
And what were the symptoms?
“I’m not going to go into her bodily functions,” Berger tells Hollywood.com, “… but it was not pretty.”
