Mariah Carey responds to devout fan’s Marie Curie birthday cake mix-up

Mariah Carey has sent a fan birthday wishes after they asked colleagues for a cake decorated with a picture of the singer – but got one with Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie instead.
Twitter user Harriet Aida Lye shared the faux pas online last Friday (14Jun19), writing: “My cousin in England told her colleagues she wanted a Mariah Carey birthday cake. They misunderstood, and is the cake they made her instead. It’s Marie Curie, looking very festive.”
In a picture shared alongside the post, the cake can be seen topped with a black and white image of the French-Polish physicist, known for her groundbreaking work on radioactivity.
“Happy Birthday Siobhan” is written in plain block letters on the brown cake and seven pink-frosted cupcakes sit on the same plate, with candles also spelling out “Happy Birthday”.
The tweet has since gone viral online, and has been shared more than 44,000 times and racked up more than 207,000 likes. And the post even got a response from the We Belong Together hitmaker herself, who quipped: “This could’ve been me if only I hadn’t failed remedial math.
“Happy birthday Siobhan!”
