Mariah Carey to bring festive cheer to London commuters as rail announcer

Mariah Carey has recorded special festive rail announcements for some of London’s biggest stations.

The All I Want for Christmas is You singer’s voice will be heard at London Bridge, Waterloo and Stratford terminals in the British capital from 18 to 24 December (18) as part of a collaboration between bosses at Transport for London and Amazon Music Unlimited.

As well as hearing her voice in stations, Londoners using Amazon’s Alexa app will also be able to request all the singer’s Christmas songs and tracks from her new album Caution over the holidays.

Last Wednesday, Mariah visited the city to play one of her traditional Christmas concerts at the O2 Arena, where she performed alongside a gospel choir and child actors.

The U.S. diva is not the first star to record station announcements; in September Kylie Minogue’s voice was heard on platforms across the U.K. as part of BBC Music Day.

English rockers Ozzy Osbourne, Shaun Ryder, and Miles Kane also turned public transport announcers in their hometowns for the 2017 edition of the event.
