Mariah Carey to ‘stay silent’ on romance with James Packer

Mariah Carey has agreed to stay silent about her failed romance with Australian billionaire James Packer.
The Hero hitmaker will keep “positively silent” in the unusual deal, meaning she must not bad mouth her ex-fiance in public, according to the New York Daily News.
In return for her silence, she will be able to keep the huge 35-carat Wilfredo Rosado designed engagement ring, as well as cash payments that will be staggered over a number of years.
Sources told the New York Daily News that lawyers for the former couple settled the deal after Mariah refused to speak to her ex after a bitter end to their romance.
“Mariah got what she wanted, which was essentially her engagement ring and a payout,” an insider told the publication. “It was not as much as people thought. And James wanted to make sure that they had a deal not to attack each other in public and keep things amicable. Both are locked in to be positively silent – in other words to only say things about themselves if asked about the failure, rather than badmouth one another.”
The couple first met in 2014, and went public with their relationship in June 2015, when they were spotted holding hands on the Italian island of Capri. The following month, Mariah dedicated her hit Hero to James, 50, while performing onstage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
“I’ve got a new heart,” she announced to the audience. “James is in the house.”
They made it official in January, 2016, but after a disastrous holiday in Greece in September (16), a rep for the billionaire all but confirmed their split to Entertainment Tonight.
“Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since. The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah,” the rep said at the time.
