Marilyn Manson cancels Aftershock Festival gig

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson has scrapped plans to perform at the Aftershock Festival later this month (Oct17) after he was crushed by a large prop onstage in New York City.
The Antichrist Superstar hitmaker was performing at the Hammerstein Ballroom last month (Sep17), when he tried to climb a podium onstage, framed by a pair of giant gun motifs. The metal structure wobbled under the singer’s weight and crashed down on him as he fell backwards.
He was taken offstage on a stretcher and his representative subsequently confirmed Manson had been treated in a nearby hospital. Manson returned to his home in Los Angeles to recuperate and cancelled nine of his Heaven Upside Down Tour dates.
The rocker is reportedly expected to resume the trek in Grand Prairie, Texas on 15 October (17), but he will not be performing at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California, the following weekend (21-22Oct17).
Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes have also pulled out of performing at the event in order to give Carter time to deal with personal issues. Festival organisers have enlisted Butcher Babies and Palaye Royale to replace Manson and the band.
Nine Inch Nails, Ozzy Osbourne, and Tech N9ne will also perform at the festival.
