Mark Hamill would love to help bring George Lucas’ life story to the big screen by portraying the Star Wars creator in a future biopic.

The veteran actor, famed for playing Luke Skywalker in Lucas‘ blockbuster sci-fi franchise, was taking questions during a solo panel at the Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando, Florida on Sunday (16Apr17) when he was asked about his dream role.

“I’d like to play George in The George Lucas Story,” he quipped, as he shared his impression of the filmmaker, much to the audience’s delight.

During the session, Mark also recounted his proposal for an alternative ending of the last Star Wars sequel, The Force Awakens, revealing he approached director J.J. Abrams and suggested a reunion between Skywalker and Harrison Ford’s Han Solo, just as Solo meets his end at the hands of his onscreen son Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver.

“It would carry so much emotional resonance into the next film…,” he explained to Fandango. “I thought that was a great missed opportunity…”

However, Hamill also admitted he has had a lot of “terrible” ideas for Star Wars films over the years, which he may one day detail in a book.

“I look back now (and) I go, ‘What was I thinking?’,” he smiled.
