Mark Hoppus auctioning off bass to oppose ‘Straight Pride’ event bid

Blink-182 star Mark Hoppus is auctioning off one of his bass guitars for an LGBTQ charity to protest a plan to stage a Straight Pride parade in Boston, Massachusetts.
The punk star was so appalled to learn that three men had applied for permission to stage the event – a middle finger flip to the city’s LGBTQ Pride Month events – he decided to help raise cash for the opposition.
“To celebrate how utterly ridiculous a Straight Pride parade is, I’m going to auction off one of my basses, match the final bid dollar-for-dollar, and donate all the money to the @TrevorProject,” Hoppus tweeted.
The Straight Pride bid has also been attacked online by Boston native Chris Evans, who lashed out at the three men behind the stunt.
“It’s LGBT pride month, but three guys in Boston want a permit for a ‘Straight Pride’ parade,” Evans wrote on social media earlier this week (beg03Jun19). “Wow! Cool initiative, fellas!!
“Just a thought, instead of ‘Straight Pride’ parade, how about this: The ‘desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic because no one taught us how to access our emotions as children’ parade? Whatta ya think (sic)? Too on the nose??”
