Lifestyle guru Martha Stewart is in mourning for her younger brother George Christiansen, who died last week (end19Mar17).
George died suddenly at the age of 65, according to an obituary notice that was posted on the website of Fairfield, Connecticut funeral home Lesko & Polke.
The 75-year-old lifestyle mogul’s spokeswoman Susan Magrino confirmed to The New York Post’s Page Six gossip column that it was her brother who had passed away.
“Martha lost her youngest brother, George, suddenly and unexpectedly earlier this (past) week,” she said. “The family requests that you respect their privacy during this time of sorrow.”
Editors at Page Six report that his death was believed to be due to a suspected heart attack.
Martha and George were reportedly very close. His wife Rita worked in her office and he had appeared alongside the celebrity homemaker in one of her online shows.
His death is not the only heartbreak she has suffered in recent years as in 2014 her sister Laura died aged 59 after suffering from an aneurysm.
George’s funeral will be held on Saturday (25Mar17).
