Martina McBride teams with husband to open sound engineering school

Country music star Martina Mcbride is teaming up with her husband to open a sound engineering school based in their Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The Concrete Angel hitmaker and her sound engineer husband John McBride will offer hands-on education and industry involvement for 30 students in a specially designed Learning Laboratory.
The couple hope to provide the audio education at more affordable prices for their young students at the Blackbird Academy and will involve a group of industry professionals for a unique learning experience.
John McBride said, “Opening a school has been a dream of mine for a long time. After talking with hundreds of Blackbird Studio interns and hearing about their experiences, I believe we can provide a better and more affordable educational solution than what is currently available, and that offers our students real-world knowledge that they will use moving toward a career of audio recording or live sound engineering. We want to change the world and make it better for the next generation – The Blackbird Academy is just the place to make that happen.”
Classes will commence this autumn (13).
