Mary J. Blige hit with $3.4 million tax bill

Singer Mary J. Blige’s money woes have gone from bad to worse after U.S. authorities slapped her with a new $3.4 million (£2.2 million) tax bill. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officials have filed a federal tax lien against the R&B star for income taxes she allegedly failed to pay from 2009 to 2011, reports
The IRS lawsuit is on top of the $900,000 (£581,000) Blige is accused of owing the state of New Jersey in back taxes.
Blige’s financial problems don’t end there – in February (13), she was sued for allegedly defaulting on a $500,000 (£323,000) bank loan, and lawyers for Signature Bank in the U.S. took legal action against the star last summer (12) over claims she failed to make good on a $2.2 million (£1.4 million) payout.
