Matt Damon opens up about wedding renewal

Actor Matt Damon has revealed he was forced to scarp his plans to wed Luciana Barroso in Florida in 2005 after learning the paparazzi had been tipped off about the nuptials. The Talented Mr. Ripley star tied the knot with the mother of his three children at City Hall in New York City on 9 December, 2005, and earlier this month (13Apr13) they renewed their wedding vows on the island of St. Lucia.
And Damon explains it was important for the couple to cement its relationship in front of family and friends in a big way – because his wife was robbed of her special day over seven years ago.
He tells People.com, “It’s nice to say your vows in front of family. That’s the point of taking the vows. These are people who will hold you to them. One of my vows was I gave her the side of the bed closer to the bathroom. And if I don’t stick to that, I’m gonna hear about that from my mum, brother and father.
“We were gonna get married over Christmas (in 2005), and then somebody got wind of it, and my publicist told me these people are are all going to go down to Miami, where we lived at the time. We thought our whole holiday break was going to get ruined with people hanging around, with helicopters and all that stuff.
“We literally ran to the city and just tied the knot really quickly, just to kind of nip that whole thing in the bud.”
