Matt Damon was Horrified by Daughter’s Jellyfish Sting

Matt Damon was given a real scare when his daughter was stung by a jellyfish in Australia earlier this year (17).

The Martian star and his family travelled Down Under to stay with his friend Chris Hemsworth back in April (17), but a day at the beach turned into a nightmare for Matt and his wife Luciana after their then-six-year-old girl Stella had an encounter with the sea creature.

“It was the worst thing,” Matt shared during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which airs on Thursday (26Oct17). “Even Chris said, ‘Mate, that’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life’. It was really bad.”

The actor revealed the jellyfish had used its tentacles to get a firm grip around the kid’s body, and he had to rush to pull them all off.

“This thing literally wrapped around her,” he recalled, admitting it was terrifying to look at. “I could show you pictures that would turn your head. She had these… (what) looked like shoelaces, kind of, red shoelaces around her body.”

When host Ellen DeGeneres asked if Matt had urinated on Stella’s wounds to ease the pain, he revealed the widely-believed method was actually just a myth, and the paramedics who attended to his daughter had advised him to use hot water instead.

However, Matt joked he wouldn’t have hesitated to do so if that had been required, quipping, “She peed on me enough in her life!”

Stella is the couple’s youngest child, a little sister for nine-year-old Gia, 11-year-old Isabella, and teenager Alexia, Luciana’s daughter from a previous relationship.
