Matthew Broderick’s Broadway show to close early

Matthew Broderick’s return to Broadway will be cut short as his play Sylvia closes its doors weeks before scheduled.
The Producers star is currently in the new production of A.R. Gurney’s 1995 comedy, which features a couple going through a midlife crisis and the adopted dog that changes their lives.
However, due to mediocre reviews and poor ticket sales, producers announced on Tuesday (24Nov15) the show will close after the final performance on 3 January (15), three weeks before the limited run was slated to end.
Sylvia, which also stars fellow Tony winners Julie White and Annaleigh Ashford, opened in October (15).
