Rapper Meek Mill’s bail hearing has been cancelled due to an administrative error.
The Ima Boss hitmaker is currently serving a two-to-four-year prison sentence for violating the terms of his probation relating to a 2008 drug and gun bust. He checked in to prison earlier this month, but on Friday (17Nov17) it was reported he would return to court to face Judge Genece Brinkley on 27 November (17).
However, Meek Mill’s lawyer Joe Tacopina has since told Billboard.com the hearing will no longer take place.
According to New York Daily News sources, a court clerk saw a bail motion listed under Mill’s real name Robert Williams and scheduled a bail hearing, because they didn’t realize it was the same person.
Meek’s lawyers have filed a request to have Judge Brinkley removed from the case, claiming she has a personal vendetta against the rapper and ignored the recommendation of Williams’ probation officer by sentencing him to prison time.
The 30-year-old’s lawyers also filed a motion to appeal his prison term and terminate his probation.
They have also demanded the rapper’s release from solitary confinement, and, over the weekend, it was confirmed he has been moved to a different prison in Pennsylvania and placed among other inmates.
