Meghan Trainor once nearly squashed her pet rat Lulu to death in a “stomping” accident.

The All About That Bass singer appeared as a guest on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Guillermo Del Toro on Wednesday night (07Feb18), where Meghan and The Shape of Water director bonded over their mutual love for rats.

But when host James queried the average life expectancy of the rodents, Meghan went on to admit she was nearly responsible for her beloved pet’s death.

“I stomped on mine by accident,” she shared. “It’s tragic. I had UGG boots on and I was brushing my teeth. She (would go) everywhere in the mornings… and there was a (scream) and then a nose bleed.”
Luckily, the popstar assured the audience that Lulu survived for a while longer after the incident, and revealed the bizarre circumstances in which the rat came to be the family pet.

“Well, my brother had a pet snake and (Lulu) was food. The snake was at a different house at the time so we just kept her as a sweet little pet,” the 24-year-old shared. “I remember walking downstairs and seeing Lulu on my brother’s shoulder and I was like, ‘What’s happening, we have to keep her!'”
