Mel Gibson’s Ex Accused of Refusing to Pay Accountants’ Fee

Mel Gibson’s ex Oksana Grigorieva has been accused of failing to pay an accounting firm that helped her win an increase in child support from the actor.

Grigorieva reportedly hired a forensic accounting firm to go over the actor’s finances when she was seeking an increase in payments for their daughter, Lucia, Mel’s eighth child, who was born in 2009.

Following a bitter legal battle after the couple split in April, 2010, the Braveheart star agreed to pay the Russian pianist $20,000 per month in child support. However, in 2014, she filed for bankruptcy.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the accounting firm of White, Zuckerman, Warsavsky, Luna & Hunt (WZWL&H) filed papers on 14 December (17) in Grigorieva’s bankruptcy case seeking permission from a judge to allow them to pursue Grigorieva over an outstanding bill for $108,000.

She reportedly hired the firm in 2015 to do forensic accounting work on Mel’s finances which helped her to get an increase in child support. WZWL&H claims the work they did was “instrumental” in obtaining a substantial increase in her monthly child support – she is now paid $22,500 a month – and while the majority of the bill was paid for by the Mad Max star, she has an outstanding balance of $108,887.24.

The firm insists the debt should not be discharged as part of her bankruptcy because their work came after Grigorieva had filed for bankruptcy.

WZWL&H has asked the judge to allow them to recover the sum by suing her in court instead of having to wait up to two years until she is finished making her payments as part of her bankruptcy plan.
