The Extras star is not a fan of singing contests such as The X Factor and American Idol and has taken aim at Cowell after discovering funding cuts at London arts venue ArtsDepot.
He says, “If we continue to let places like the ArtsDepot disappear, we’re going to wake up one day and find our greatest artistic achievement is a dancing dog on Britain’s Got Talent. And Simon Cowell will be nailing the coffin closed on our cultural heritage.”
Roger Daltrey, Madness star Suggs, Suede’s Brett Anderson and new dad Sir Elton John have all recently lined up to criticise Cowell.
