Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly has been tapped to rework the long-gestating film adaptation of hit video game Metal Gear Solid.

Sony Pictures bosses have been working on the project for the past decade, and now Connolly has been hired to pen the latest draft of the script.

The gig will reunite Connolly with his Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who signed on to bring the story to life on the big screen in 2014.

The Metal Gear Solid video game, created by Hideo Kojima, debuted on the PlayStation in 1998 and followed the adventures of Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to tackle a terrorist threat.
